Dong Trieu ceramic village – An interesting stopover to Halong Bay
Dong Trieu Town is located 60km away Halong city, where has the famous ceramic villages in Vietnam. This is one of the stopover for a lot of domestic and foreign travelers have opportunity to Halong. Dong Trieu ceramic village has nearly 200 years of history of making ceramic products.
Compared to Bat Trang, Phu Lang, Kim Lan, … Dong Trieu ceramic village (Quang Ninh) is still quite young. In 1955, Mr. Nguyen Ba Huy was a pioneer in opening pottery factory with family size. Over time, this ceramic production is replicated and there are now more than 50 factories mainly in Cau Dat and Vinh Hong with about 1,500 local employees. Since this business development, Dong Trieu has been called “Ceramic Village”.
Dong Trieu has abundant raw materials and fuel source such as clay, kaolin, wood, coal and human resources, so here has high potential development for producing ceramic. Ceramic products of Dong Trieu are known for high quality, which are sintered at temperature as high as 1300 ° C in the empty furnaces. The both domestic and foreign consumers favorite these products because of durable, beautiful glaze color, clearness and bright.
The ceramic production process is totally handmade, which is special attraction of Dong Trieu pottery village. Visitors will be seen the skillful hands of artisans make the product very unique from raw clay. Visitors also have the opportunity to create a ceramic product by their own hands and express freely their ideas on them.
After molding is complete, products are carried to dried by heat, and then visitors can decorate them with paint brush. There are many people feel interesting and very happy to be bringing their first product to donate their loved ones. Ceramic products are sold with a reasonable price.
